Autism-Friendly Cinema
An autism-friendly viewing is produced by applying the following adjustments:
- The staff is well-informed and will offer extra guidance when entering our theatre.
- Before the movie starts, an introduction will be held, emphasizing the exact modifications of
the screening.
- Specially designed pictograms will clarify the whereabouts of certain points, including the bar
and the toilet. Furthermore, the main hall will be dressed in a more calm fashion.
- The volume of the movie will be turned down slightly and the basses of the movie will
generally be filtered out.
- The lights in the screening room will be turned down only slightly during the screening.
- The screening won’t entail an intermission
- At various points in the screening room, extra staff will be present in order to guide
those want to leave the screening – albeit for a short time.
- The film programme will be displayed precisely on posters that are attached the doors of the
theatre.
- Filmtheater De Uitkijk is partially accessible by wheelchair. Customers who explicitly need
wheelchair assistance are asked to announce this in advance, so that we can take
precautions.
We would like to emphasize that this text concerns an autism-friendly screening which has been adjusted to create a more relaxed atmosphere for those suffering from autism. However, other people may also attend this screening. Though not every type of autism will take advantage of these moderations, we do our best to be as inclusive as possible. Everyone who thinks the adjustments stated above will guarantee a more attractive screening will be satisfied – as will those who simply like quality movies.
